If there is any antagonist lording over all of Resident Evil Village, it’s Heisenberg. While other mysterious and evil forces are certainly at play, it’s Heisenberg that taunts Ethan, captures him, dogs his progress, and seems to make all the deep decisions for the gang of villains.
Gamers who are looking to get through the story of Resident Evil Village should start here. This guide is purely to get through the main story; completionists who are looking for all the secrets and collectibles will want to explore a bit in each area.
For gamers that haven’t reached this area yet, please consider starting with the walkthrough for the last section.
Part Five Walkthrough
Getting Into The Stronghold
There isn’t any trickery at the start, outside of Heisenberg’s sarcastic signs. With only one path forward, keep following the road. This is not a safe area and enemies will come down from the canyon walls.
As usual, be quick on the trigger. This time, also watch for flaming arrows from archers in the spire.
Hug the right wall and find a corridor. This corridor spirals around a few times, slowly going upward, and allowing Ethan to take care of the perky archers shooting at him.
At the top of the stronghold, find a dark, rusty lever. Pull it and then drop downward.
On the opposite wall, locate a yellow ladder. Take it back up the side of the stronghold. The path ends with the lever on the opposite side of the previous lever. Pull it.
This will retract the gate just underneath the levers very slowly. Fend off the onslaught until the metal gate goes down, then run through and push open the heavy wooden double doors.
Hig the left wall, up the stairs, and end up in a room full of opponents. The goal is to climb up but there aren’t any stairs or ladders within reach. Look up to find a zipline that connects to an otherwise unreachable area. Zip across.
Go up the stairs, across the bridge, and head toward the center of the Stronghold. Ethan will be blocked by a mini-boss who can be either defeated or run away from.
Return to hugging the left side, this time going down many flights of stairs.
Somehow, Ethan is limber enough to slide through the crack at the end of this staircase. After sliding through, follow the only path forward, marked with torches.
Inside The Stronghold
Eventually, Ethan will end up in a room with stone pillars. Urias will land on the top platform for a second confrontation.
Defeating Urias can be done simply by doing enough damage to him. Block his spin attack, sidestep his overhead attack, go behind a pillar if he picks up another pillar, and don’t get too far away or else he’ll use his unblockable leap attack. After taking enough damage, it’s curtains for him.
The red door to the side will open during Urias’ death animation. Head through and go between the white crystals to reach the next area.
The only path forward goes down some stairs and leads Ethan to a desk with the Torso Flask on it. be sure to pick this up. This will trigger two consecutive cutscenes. After which, the metal door next to the desk will open.
Go down the corridor and look right to find a boat. This time, Ethan will automatically use the Boat Key acquired earlier.
While it’s tempting to head back to the village now, as Ethan indicates it’s time to deliver the flasks back, there’s another stop to make first. Look on the left side and disembark at the next dock. Look right and head up the ladder to get back into the village.
The Village
Unlock the door, then use the Iron Inginia Key to unlock the next gate.
Look to the right and find a yellow-taped level by the well. For the purposes of a speedy walkthrough, it’s not necessary to use but completionists should play around here for a bit. Go past this well and around the house on the left.
Head through an unlocked gate to wind up back in the village commons. It’s time to go back to the area with the Duke, look for the big red door just up the stone stairs.
Those who have followed this guide now have four flasks. Enter each one into the pedestal in the middle, receiving a cutscene after the first one.
After entering the fourth flask, Ethan gets the Giant’s Chalice and another cutscene.
Go straight forward after the cutscene, through the swinging gate.
Take the only path forward, ending in an empty pedestal. Place the Giant’s Chalice on it, then brace for a long elevator ride downward.
Heisenberg’s Factory
Once at the bottom, spot a hole in the wall and climb up the slanted cave to arrive at the grounds for Heisenberg’s Factory.
Follow the path across the bridge and between the fields of grain. It leads to a barn which opens automatically as Ethan approaches.
Look to the back left and spot a white door. Go through and down the stairs.
Keep going through until spotting a high-tech workbench on the right. Interact with it to begin two cutscenes in a row.
This will spark a chase scene in which there is a linear path forward. In the end, there is a dead end with a garbage chute. Take the chute down.
From here, climb up the small mountain of garbage. Then take the yellow ladder up and out of the trash heap.
There are monsters with weapons that begin to spawn throughout the factory, so be prepared for some light combat. Take the path as it hooks right, then look left and find a metal grate blocking an air duct. Tear off the grate and head inside.
Find a ladder on the left side and exit into the inside of the factory. Look right after Ethan finishes his comments and go through the metal double doors straight ahead.
Those who are tired of finding keys are going to love this next door. Simply shoot the red bulb on the front to break it open. be ready to fire again as enemies are waiting inside.
Follow the hall as it becomes a catwalk. Loop to the right and head down the stairs, then open up a metal door and go through.
When facing an orange light, go left, up some stairs, and fight a few foes.
Enter the door that has a red light above it and hug the right wall.
This wall ends in a room with a chest. Inside of that chest, loot the Relief Mold.
Leave the room quickly, as a mini-boss will activate that gamers should want no part of right now. Retrace Ethan’s steps to the orange light and use the Relief Mold at that location. After a few seconds, loot the finished product, the Relief of a Horse.
Inside of this room, spot a diamond-shaped metal on the wall. Place the Relief of a Horse on it. Head through the entrance that opens.
There will be a double door straight ahead, but don’t take it yet. Look left and go down the small set of stairs.
There are several pieces of equipment with red lights on the side. Shoot these lights to damage Heisenberg’s Factory. Continue on the catwalks and past these pieces of machinery, shooting the lights as the character progresses.
This ends at a yellow ladder. Climb up and go forward to find another air duct with a metal grate in front of it. Once again, take off the grate and hop inside.
Keep going down the path downstairs. Eventually, this leads to a room with another treasure box in it. Open it up for the Cog Mold.
Follow the left wall around until running into the mini-boss. Immediately exit to the door on the right and use the Cog Mold at the orange light.
Sturm has several forms and this won’t be the last Ethan sees of him. To delay him while waiting for the molding to finish, shoot his weak point. At this time, it’s by his heart. Pick up the Large Cog when the process finishes.
Exit using the white wooden door.
After a short pathway, spot a few red lights on the wall with a piece missing in between. This is where the Large Cog goes. Plop it in, crank the lever, then look right and head down the stairs.
The path continues for a while, ending with Heisenberg sending out opponents. Just run past them and find a door with five red lights at the end of the path. Shoot the lights out and ditch the enemies.
Going down the metal hallways, spot three red lights and head left. Continue on until spotting another five-light door. Shoot them out and head through.
Hit the green button to call down a walkway. Cross this bridge and through the door with the green light overhead.
Ethan will run into Sturm yet again here. It’s the same rules as before, shoot his vulnerable red spots to disable him for a bit. Or just run past him. Find a blue door, then go through that to enter the production area of the factory.
Take the yellow ladder up and follow the only path forward. Ethan will have to go down a ladder, through a concrete tube, exit out of a crack in the tube, and end up in a room with a gigantic drill in it.
Go past the drill and toward the back.
There is another air duct to enter but this time it has no grate in the front of it to remove. Press on, drop down, go through a door of metal bars, and enter a turbine room.
The bottom turbine is irrelevant, but the top turbine blocks progress forward. Shoot out the red bulbs (one in the center, three on the sides) to disable it. Meanwhile, climb up the stairs and deal with enemies coming out of the walls.
The top turbines become a spiral staircase. Take them up and then exit out of the lone metal door.
The path goes up three flights of stairs and ends at a room that starts to draw Ethan toward a turbine. Shoot the center, the watch the mechanism explode. Go through the hole where the turbine used to be.
Straight across, the way forward is marked with a green light. Look to the right and find some piping on the side of the wall. Shuffle around, then hop up the ladder, and exit out of the latched door.
In the next room, find a panel with a green light on it. Press it and head back up via an elevator ride.
Exit and head down the hallway to come face-to-face with another molding briefcase. Crack it open and take the Key Mold from inside. Then exit right, go up the ladder, and up an inclined ramp.
Look on the right and pull a level on a panel with three small red lights to open the door.
This summons a rather large elevator. The Duke has somehow made it onto his platform, so make any last-minute purchases here. Inside, press the B4 button to arrive at the next destination.
Leave out of the door with three white lights overhead.
Although the path is winding and dark, it is linear. Stay on the path, shoot anything that gets in the way, and end at an orange area. As should be predicted, get the Key Mold made here. Pick it up when the process finishes and gather up Heisenberg’s Key.
Retrace Ethan’s steps all the way back to the Duke. Hit B1 to go back up.
Spot the door with the horse logo on it. This designates the location to use Heisenberg’s Key. Enter.
Do not go through the door immediately facing Ethan on the inside. Instead, go right and follow the hallway. Exit out of a door on the other side.
This is the third and final confrontation with Sturm. The key to killing him is to shoot his red points. This is nearly impossible from the from, but he’s got a huge light on the back. Dodge his charge, then turn and shoot as he’s trying to turn back around.
A book will open after Sturm’s death. Exit, take the nearest door, the hop down on the ground level to spot a ladder through a wall. Take this up.
This leads to a thin beam. Cross it and then pull the lever. This will take the lift Ethan is on slightly up to a new floor.
Exit through two sets of doors. The second of these will trigger a cutscene.
Ethan will find himself in a room with an air duct and a metal grate in front of it. Once again, rip off the grate and enter. Interact with the metal on the left to move it, sparking yet another cutscene.
Players will regain control right in front of one of Heisenberg’s tanks. Enter to trigger, unbelievably, another cutscene.
Heisenberg Boss Fight
Go forward a short way and only an elevator that activates automatically. At the top, blow down the gate and head outside. This starts the Heisenberg boss fight officially.
Experts will want to study this fight carefully. Those who are playing on lower difficulties can simplify it down to shooting his red weak spots and blasting the cannon at him if he gets too close.
Eventually, he’ll blast Ethan out of the tank. The result here is that Ethan will need to fight him on foot. The moveset is slow and let powerful, but, obviously, so is Ethan. Still, the same strategy applies, air for weak spots and use explosive if he starts to charge.
Eventually, he’ll start to lift Ethan and everything else off of the ground. Ethan will hop into his tank in midair and aim at Heisenberg. Fire and end the boss fight, setting the stage for the grand finale.
