For being a Free-to-Play, single-player RPG, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is a very solid mobile game. It offers players a smaller version of what made the original Octopath Traveler such a fantastic RPG. Of course, this is possible because the game is designed to make money by relying on a gacha business model.
This style of game is pretty common for mobile games from Square Enix, and they usually have some sort of premium currency that players need to purchase with real money. Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is no exception, and in order to purchase additional travelers, players will need to use Rubies. This guide will explain how players can get Rubies in Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
How to Get Rubies
The most simple and straightforward way to get more Rubies is to buy them in-game for real money. This can be done by tapping on the “+” button next to the counter that shows how many Rubies players have. Doing so will bring up a small menu called the Ruby Shop, where players can use real money to purchase bundles of Rubies. Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent players should keep in mind that there is a monthly limit on how many Rubies sets can be purchased. They are also very expensive, so players may want to consider a cheaper option for this gacha game.
Rubies in the Mail
One good, constant source of Rubies for players is the in-game mail. On the 8th, 18th, and 28th of every month, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent players receive 30 Rubies for free. So, players will reliably get 90 Rubies a month through this method, which is enough for three chances for new travelers. If players want more Rubies than that, there are other opportunities in the game for freebies.
Just Playing the Game
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent has a set of Daily and Weekly tasks that can be completed. Although these tasks reward more than just Rubies, they can be a great source of free Rubies. Players can also obtain Rubies by completing Feats, which are the equivalent of Achievements or Trophies that have become a staple in many games, though the only drawback to these is that they can only be claimed once as opposed to Daily and Weekly tasks that eventually reset. Players also get Rubies by raising their Wealth, Power, and Fame ranks.
While players have several reliable sources of free Rubies, there are some limits to how they can be used. Unfortunately, there are some draw campaigns for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent where the only Rubies that can be used are the ones that players purchased with their own money. So, while this will lock free players out of certain party members, there are still many good travelers to add to the party that can be obtained using free Rubies.
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is available now on Android and iOS devices.
